Ridgeway Autonomous School Board Options

(options revised at 3/15/17 ASB meeting)

The Ridgeway Autonomous School Board has discussed changing the board by adding two additional positions.  The options are listed below.  We will have a period of time for discussion by the current Board members which will close at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23.  Each Board member should vote by noon (12:00 p.m.) on Friday, March 24.  The Board officers will count votes and post results on the comment page.

Option A

  • One (1) Central Office Administrator

  • Four (4) current teachers (1 from each unit plus one specialist teacher)

  • Three (3) current parents

  • One (1) former Ridgeway student

  • One (1) former CPS Elementary Administrator

  • One (1) current Ridgeway Principal

  • One (1) Academic Partner in Education

  • One (1) Industry Partner in Education Representative

Option B

  • One (1) Central Office Administrator

  • Four (4) current teachers (1 from each unit plus one specialist teacher)

  • Two (2) current parents

  • One (1) former Ridgeway student

  • One (1) current parent or former student or Partner in Education

  • One (1) member at large of the Ridgeway membership (as defined by Article III,  section 3, excluding Current Faculty/Staff/Students)

  • One (1) former CPS Elementary Administrator

  • One (1) current Ridgeway Principal

  • One (1) Academic Partner in Education

  • One (1) Industry Partner in Education Representative

Option C

  • One (1) Central Office Administrator

  • Four (4) current teachers (no designation)

  • Three (3) current parents

  • One (1) former Ridgeway student

  • One (1) former CPS Elementary Administrator

  • One (1) current Ridgeway Principal

  • One (1) Academic Partner in Education

  • One (1) Industry Partner in Education Representative


Option D -  No change – leave Board membership as it currently stands.

John C. Ridgeway Elementary School opened in 1923. John C. Ridgeway was the first Boone County soldier to die in World War I.

The Ridgeway mascot is the Rams.

Ridgeway is a K-5 magnet school based on the concept of Individually Guided Education (I.G.E.). By assessing each student in each subject area and placing that student in appropriate instructional groups or working individually, the student should be successful every day.

Ridgeway was recognized for Excellence in Education by the U.S. Department of Education's Outstanding Elementary School program in 1985-86.
