Procedure for Identifying and Assessing English Language Learners (ELL) Children

- All students complete a Language Questionnaire upon enrollment.
- If the Language Questionnaire indicates the child's first language is something other than English and/or there is a language other than English spoken in the home, the student is referred to the ELL coordinator or the ELL teacher in the student's school.
- The ELL coordinator or ELL teacher assesses the student's English proficiency using the WIDA-ACCESS Placement Test (W-APT).
- The ELL coordinator or ELL teacher makes placement recommendations.
