Important Meningococcal Information for Parents/Guardians
Missouri Immunization laws have recently changed and beginning with the 2016-2017 school year all students entering into the 12th will be required to have two doses of MCV unless the first dose is administered on or after the age of 16, then only one dose is required. According to our records, your child will be enrolled as a 12th grader during the 2016-2017 school year.
If your child has already received this vaccine, please bring proof of the MCV immunization to the school nurse at your child’s school. It can also be faxed to 214-3681.
**There must be a record of a completed MCV immunization on file at your child’s school prior to the first day of school. Please make sure this vaccine has been administered prior to Schedule Pick Up Night, as your child will be NOT be able to receive his/her schedule for the 2016-2017 school year if it has not been received.
Meningococcal (MCV) immunizations are available from:
· Local healthcare providers
· Columbia-Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services,
1005 W. Worley, Columbia Phone 573- 874-7355.
The Health Department does not accept private insurance reimbursement; it does accept all forms of medical assistance and can help with uninsured or underinsured individuals. Please call ahead to verify vaccine coverage information.
Please make sure this immunization is current before the year starts in August. You can get the vaccine now to avoid the before school rush for next year. Please keep in mind, this is a state mandate so EVERY student STATE-WIDE entering 12th grade will need to get the vaccine. Please contact your school nurse if you have any questions.
