COVID-19 Testing For Students
COVID-19 testing is available to CPS students who are currently exhibiting symptoms of the virus.
The type of test that is being be used (antigen test) is most accurate when administered in the first 7 days of symptom onset. Therefore, prior to testing, parents and/or guardians will need to call the CPS nurse triage phone line at 214-3975 to discuss the need for testing. The phone line will be open from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, school days only.
If it is determined that the student should be tested, an appointment will be made at Hickman High School. Testing appointments are available Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. when school is in session. Testing will not be available on days that school is closed including holidays, teacher work days, breaks or snow days.
The test is performed by a nasal swab. After the swab is done, the student should return home and begin isolating until they receive their test result from a CPS nurse. The nurse will provide guidance on what actions should be taken based on the test result.
