I love Kindergarten!
Welcome to Kindergarten at Shepard School! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Nicole Blume and this is my eighteenth year at Shepard Elementary and with the Columbia School District. This is my twenty- third year of teaching; in addition to Kindergarten, I have experience working with special education, first grade, and second grade. I do believe that I could be a kindergarten teacher for the rest of my life! I love the age; the curriculum and the challenge of helping each child become the best he or she can be!
My own children have grown up so fast I can hardly believe it! I have a daughter, Cecilia, who is married to her high school sweetheart Skyler, and they recently made me a grandma! My granddaughter, Graceyn, is almost four months old and brings so much joy to our family! They live near Wichita, Kansas.
In addition, I have twins, a boy and a girl. Hunter is currently in the Air Force in Texas. McKenna works for Veterans United, and lives on a farm in New Bloomfield. Mr. Blume recently joined an amazing company called Equipment Share and is loving his new position! We are originally from Omaha, Nebraska and I might be caught cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers on occasion, but I do have to admit I have grown fond of the Missouri Tigers!
If you have any questions or anything you would like to discuss with me I am a very willing listener. It is extremely important to me to have an open and honest relationship with the parents of my students so please feel free to approach me about anything. I can generally be reached at school until 4:00 each day. Additionally, you may reach me on my school email. If you choose to contact me using email please remember that I am unable to check my email while class is in session. If you have a message that is time sensitive (change of pick-up arrangements, etc.) please call the office. I will do my best to be prompt with my response either by phone or email.
Also, I wanted to tell you that we will have lots of social media communication. I like to send out reminders, updates and classroom happenings through twitter and a website called Seesaw (more details to come). I will also email my classroom newsletters through SMORE. If you would like to receive it, please make sure I have your current email address.
It is my hope that we all have a successful year of learning and growing together!
