Beth Newton  

I’m in my 23nd year teaching 8th science (The first 22 years were in the same classroom at Oakland MIddle School.)

My other responsibilities include:

• Leader of CPS Yellowstone Trip.
• JWMS Science Department Chair
• JWMS 8th grade Head Volleyball Coach
• JWMS 7th grade Girls Basketball Head Coach
• JWMS Assistant Track Coach

My philosophy is deeply connected with Place Based Education, Design Thinking & the 3 dimensions of the NGSS.  

My family is wonderful & consists of my Husband Gary, Son Benjamin, my 2 daughters Danielle & Samantha, (who also are teachers at Gentry Middle School.)

I also have a wonderful son-in-law,  granddaughter, and soon to have 2nd son-in-law

I love exploring. My favorite place in the world is Yellowstone National Park.  

Swimming and biking keep me going.
