As we plan for a school year likely to be continuously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, our priorities are providing environments that are as safe as possible for students and staff, and providing equitable, guaranteed, and viable education. Therefore, Columbia Public Schools will be accessible to all students through a choice model. Students and families may choose to engage in their education in an online format or in-person (in a more traditional model).
Congratulations to Allison Collier for winning the Scenario Writing contest in the Future Problem Solving Program International competition in the senior division.
The Board of Education must regularly review attendance areas. In fall of 2019, the school district began discussion and work on attendance areas. Based on that work, the Board of Education approved new attendance areas for middle school and high school in winter of 2020. During the process, the Board of Education also identified the need to review elementary attendance areas to determine if there are areas that may need to be addressed due to population growth. In order to begin the process of reviewing elementary attendance areas and gathering feedback, the school-community is invited to participate in focus groups.
The Association of School Business Officials International has awarded Columbia Public Schools the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended 2019.
Seven outstanding CPS educators are the recipients of this prestigious honor, which has been awarded to exemplary educators annually since it began in the 1979-80 school year through the work of Ray and Jeanne Lewis.
