Volunteer Opportunities

  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Columbia Public Schools.  No matter what your interests, there's something for everyone in our volunteer program.  Columbia Public Schools is the fifth largest school district in Missouri, offering something for every volunteer's interest. It includes 21 elementary schools, seven middle schools, four high schools, the Center for the Gifted, and the Columbia Area Career Center, as well as an early childhood education program.

The philosophy of the Volunteers in Columbia Schools Program embodies the belief that community participation in the schools enriches the school program and fosters the public’s interest in our schools, both of which can make a positive difference in the educational environment.

Experience helping children learn and grow into responsible community members.  We welcome you to an experience that will enrich your life and the lives of the students and teachers you will impact. Whether you want to exercise your green thumb, coach a team, read to children, or paint a picture, we can arrange a school visit that you'll enjoy.

Parents, grandparents, senior citizens, business partners, university and college students, and community members enrich school district programs by increasing productivity and effectiveness.  Volunteers provide students with positive role models and build a link between schools and communities.

The Columbia Public Schools Volunteer program is a "school-based" program. All volunteering will occur at the school site or at a school-sponsored event. For more information contact:
