In third grade, we do lots of things with the number three! We learn about notes that last for three beats, conduct three-beat patterns, and read music in a 3/4 time signature. Third graders spend much of the year learning about the instruments that are found in the orchestra. We'll go on an instrument safari with composer Benjamin Britten, listen to the different sounds in "Peter and the Wolf," and play instrument bingo. Third grade will be visiting the Missouri Symphony Orchestra in November and be on the lookout for details of an in-class December performance.
