POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION

  • These classes assist in preparing students who choose to pursue postsecondary education or training as their postsecondary transition goal.

This is a partnership with Moberly Area Community College offered during the second semester of a student’s senior year. Participation will allow students the opportunity to experience college enrollment, college online classwork, a college classroom and course work, and interaction with college students and instructors while receiving 1 college credit hour. Students gain first-hand knowledge of the independence, self-discipline, and hard work that is required at the collegiate level.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRAM

• 12th grade

• CPS student receiving special education

• 90% attendance the semester before program enrollment

• Recommendation of case manager

• Post-secondary goal of education/training

• Cumulative 2.0 GPA

This class-room based course focuses on academic growth, career exploration, career readiness, and the development of self-advocacy and self-determination skills.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE CLASS

• 9th-12 grade (high school specific)

• CPS student receiving special education

• Post-secondary goal of employment or education

• Possess the ability to achieve independent work skills

• Recommendation of current teacher
