Columbia Public Schools has partnered with Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) to serve as the single service provider for the 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans.
- Call TIAA and schedule a one-on-one advice session to talk to a TIAA professional over the phone (free service).
- TIAA has local partners (see advisor information on the right) if you wish to meet with an advisor in person (fees apply).
These programs allow employees to make pre-tax contributions to the carrier of their choice. Contribution limits are $18,500 for 2018 for each plan and $24,500 if you are age 50 or older. The list of the approved financial advisors participating in the 403(b) and 457(b) plans are available through the links to the right.
NOTE: Individuals wanting to make contributions from their final sick leave payout check, must make the declaration of the contribution by the last day of employment, per IRS regulations.Need more years of service credit with PSRS/PEERS for retirement? Contact PSRS/PEERS about your eligibility to purchase whole or partial years of service credit to help build your retirement. Participating in the 403(b) and 457(b) plans with TIAA makes it easy to put away money on a before tax basis to accumulate the dollars you need to purchase years of service credit. There are no tax penalties when using 403(b)/457(b) money to purchase years of service.
