Superintendent Search 2021 Graphic
  • Earlier this year, Superintendent Peter Stiepleman announced his retirement at the end the school year.  The Columbia Board of Education has partnered with national firm Ray & Associates to search for the next Columbia Public Schools superintendent.

As part of the search process, the Board sought community input on the qualities desired in the new superintendent through a community survey.  The survey was available for a month for anyone in the community to take.

Thank you to the Columbia Public Schools school-community for taking the time to complete the survey.

More than 3,000 surveys were submitted to the search firm.  The survey, which was available in multiple languages, included responses from the following groups:

    • Teachers: 638 responses
    • Administrators: 75 responses
    • Support Staff: 210 responses
    • Parents: 1,462 responses
    • Students: 479 responses
    • Non-Parent Community Members: 167 responses
Results will be compiled by the search firm and provided directly to the Board of Education to help inform its decision-making during the hiring process.
