Welcome to 6th Grade Science!
This is my 1st year at GMS and my 24th year of teaching. I will be teaching 6th grade science on Team 6B and coaching Gentry's Science Olympiad team. I began my teaching career teaching elementary school (4th & 5th grades) for 6th years in Sacramento, California. I have taught middle school science previously at Lange (10 years) and West (7 years) here in Columbia. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but also spent a large portion of my childhood in San Diego, CA. I graduated from U.C. Davis with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, earned my teaching credential from Sacramento State and earned my M.Ed. from Mizzou in Information Science and Learning Technologies.
My wife, Heather, also teaches here at GMS as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher. We have been married for 14 years and have one child, Beckett, who is starting the 4th grade at Rock Bridge Elementary. Our family is completed with our three cats: Dash, Tink and Daisy.
I enjoy working in my yard, relaxing on our porch, watching superhero t.v. show's and movies and traveling. Our favorite place to visit as a family is the beach; Emerald Isle, North Carolina being our favorite! We are looking forward to taking a big trip we had planned to Great Britain this summer next year.
Two fun facts about me are I drove authentic English double decker buses in college and I was a tour guide at the San Diego Zoo.
