School-based Influenza

  • Each fall Columbia Public Schools works with the Columbia/Boone County Health Department to administer free influenza (flu) vaccine to Columbia Public School students in preschool though 12th grades.  The purpose of a school based clinic is to offer families a convenient method to vaccinate children so they can remain healthy and ready to learn.  This opportunity to have your child vaccinated is strongly encouraged, but is not mandatory.  Parents/guardians are welcome to accompany their child, but it is not a requirement.
Only the injectable (flu shot) form will be administered this year.  The consent is available at the link below.
Columbia Public Schools welcomes the opportunity to partner with the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services in serving the health needs of our students.  This vaccine program has been made possible by these generous partners:
    • University of Missouri Women's and Children's Hospital
    • David B. Lichenstein Foundation

The dates for your child's school based clinic will be determined as flu vaccine becomes available this fall.  It is recommended that everyone receive the flu vaccine each year.  When vaccine becomes available, ALL Boone County children (6 months - 18 years) can receive a free flu vaccine at the Health Department clinic, 1005 West Worley. Clinic hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 p.m.  No appointment will be required.

If you have further questions, please contact your school nurse.
