Research Databases

  • Here's how you can access some really great, valid resources provided and paid for by Columbia Public Schools. All Research databases should be accessed through the student portal.
Two quick slideshows to help you be a better researcher!

Using the Ebsco Discovery/OneSearch (must be logged into CPS Google account)

Here's how you get to the databases:
    1.  Open the CPS Portal icon on your desktop:                                portal
    2.  Click on the Electronic Library icon:    e1
    3.  Click on the next Electronic Library icon:   el3

(Note: Before you click on the second Electronic Library icon,
you can also choose to search the Hickman-provided JStor.)

    4.  Type your search terms into the box
    and start reviewing your results.

If you want to search just a specific database such as a Biography Resource Center or Science Reference Center, you can scroll down and choose the database by itself.  Otherwise, those results will be mixed in with the various other databases.  It's helpful to use the Advanced Search options to narrow down your results.  If you need any assistance in the research process, check with a Library Media Center staff person and they will be happy to help you!
