Edustaff - Apply to Substitute at CPS
-
1) Complete application with Edustaff
Apply Today at www.edustaff.org
-This online application will include online training tutorials. If you are unable to finish the modules in one setting, you can save your progress, and login later to complete your application.
-Not long after you have started an application, an Edustaff representative will be in contact with you via e-mail to support you through the application process as needed.
-The last step in the online application is to select an orientation workshop to attend. At the workshop, you will provide IDs for verification and turn in your signed paperwork. We will also review the requirements for substituting, and clarify any questions you may have regarding processing and substituting in the district.
-If you have any questions throughout the application process, please don't hesitate to contact Edustaff.
-
2) Attend an Orientation Workshop
The Orientation Workshop is a hiring and training event that is a requirement for approval to start working as a classroom substitute. Workshops are expected to last up to 2.5 hours*.
Reserve your seat: Applicants may select from available orientation workshops via their Edustaff application account. Dates/locations will be viewable upon completion of the "pre-workshop" module at the last step in the application.
Note: Announcements will be sent to applicants via email as new dates become available.
- If you are not available to attend a scheduled workshop, please call Edustaff at 877-974-6338 with your availability and we’ll coordinate to help you meet this requirement.
*** NOTICE *** - Current pre-service teachers (juniors & seniors in college teacher education programs), certified teachers, and retired certified teachers are advised to contact a local Edustaff recruiter with your status to begin an expedited process (which includes reduced online and workshop training requirements).
-
3) Register with FCSR (or verify your registration)
*** Estimated: 10 - 15 minute task ***
Please visit the website listed below to register (or verify that you are already registered) with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR). -
https://healthapps.dhss.mo.gov/BSEES/IsAPersonRegistered.aspx?ID=2&sk=SK622835185
Please click here for step by step directions on how to complete this registration.
-
4) Pass a fingerprint background check for CPS
*** Same-day and next-day appointments are often available ***
-Applicants must register for fingerprinting through MACHS Fingerprint Portal at www.machs.mshp.dps.mo.gov and provide a 4-digit Registration code for the district(s) in which you plan to work as a substitute.
Columbia Public Schools code: 0213
- Detailed directions can be found at question #8 on the FAQ link.
-After completing the registration online, you will be given a UEID number. Take this number with you to your fingerprinting appointment.
*** Notice: We recommend completing fingerprinting using CPS' code BEFORE applying for substitute certification to reduce costs & time because CPS cannot see results from fingerprints with other codes applied. The state can view results from fingerprinting with CPS code to process certification. ***

Substitute Certification:
