Columbia Public Schools has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2025.
This national recognition celebrates the district’s commitment to transparent financial reporting.

Two student teams from Columbia Area Career Center (CACC) have been selected as regional finalists in the prestigious NASA HUNCH (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware) Design and Prototype program, recognizing their innovative engineering solutions and technical design work.

Seven Columbia Public Schools’ educators have been selected as this year’s Columbia Fund for Academic Excellence honorees.
A recent Columbia Public Schools graduate will represent the United States in an international skills competition.
One of Eugene Field Elementary School’s Partners in Education sponsors is helping highlight the school’s long history in Columbia. CoMo Preservation recently compiled research about the school’s origins and historical significance, noting that Eugene Field Elementary was founded in 1916 as the fourth elementary school in Columbia Public Schools.
Ryan Tolbert, Hickman High School journalism adviser, has been named the 2026 Rising Star Award recipient by the Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association (MIJA).
A graduate of Columbia Public Schools is helping design technology that could one day support space exploration. Chase Stem, a graduate of Hickman High School, is a senior in aerospace engineering at the University of Science and Technology and serves as CEO of the university’s student-led Mars Rover Design Team.
Amy Rogers, principal of SMill Creek Elementary School, was recently recognized as the Northeast Region honoree for the 2026 Exemplary New Principal Recognition from the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals.
