Taking Care of Tomorrow’s Schools Today
Columbia Public Schools develops a long-range facilities master plan to ensure its buildings are maintained and enrollment needs are met every 10 years. This regularly evaluated plan, is used to identify and prioritize areas of need and plan for future facility investments.
The master planning process includes:
- A comprehensive review of current and future district needs
- A detailed Facility Condition Assessment of all CPS buildings
- Analysis of enrollment trends, program needs, and space utilization
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Development of prioritized recommendations to guide the next 10 years
The district has partnered with DLR Group to guide us through this process. A steering committee has been intentionally designed to be representative of our community, including community partners, parents/guardians of both general education and special education students, educators, students, construction and facilities experts, and district and school administrative leaders to lead the process.
