  • Elementary students to return to in-person learning four days a week

    On Monday, October 12, the Columbia Board of Education voted to allow students grades PreK-5 and some prioritized Career Education classes to return to in-person learning on a four-day-a-week schedule beginning on October 19. Middle and high school students are all virtual until further notice. This decision does not impact CPSElementary@Mizzou or CPSVirtual students.

  • Superintendent Peter Stiepleman named Superintendent of the Year

    Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Peter Stiepleman is the Missouri Association of School Administrators Superintendent of the Year for 2021. Stiepleman was recognized at the Missouri Association of School Administrators and Missouri School Boards' Association annual fall conference, held virtually Sept. 26.

  • Cedar Ridge teacher recognized for going the extra yard

    Cedar Ridge Elementary School Learning Specialist Christine Johnson was selected by Hayley Frank with the University of Missouri Women's Basketball team to be a recipient of the Extra Yard for Teachers award. The award, sponsored by the College Football Playoff Foundation, recognizes teachers who are making a positive impact on their students.

  • CPS recognized for award-winning budget

    The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Columbia Public Schools with the 2020-2021 Meritorious Budget Award (MBA). The MBA promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and is conferred only to school districts whose budgets have undergone a rigorous review by professional auditors and have met or exceeded the program's stringent criteria.

  • Celebrating John Warner Middle School

    Columbia Public Schools welcomes John Warner Middle School as the district's seventh middle school.
