Senior Selected for Prestigious U.S. Senate Youth Program

A Hickman High School senior has been selected to represent Missouri in one of the nation’s most prestigious student leadership programs.

Abdulrahman Adekunle, a senior at Hickman High School, has been named a 2026 delegate to the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). He will join another Missouri delegate during USSYP Washington Week, held March 7–14, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

Two CPS Educators Achieve Prestigious National Board Certification
Hickman High School's Ashley Fossum and John Warner Middle School's Cassidy Urie have earned National Board Certification, one of the most respected professional credentials available to PreK–12 educators, on December 6, 2025. Fossum and Urie are the only two educators from Columbia Public Schools to achieve this distinction in 2025.

Hilary Myers, an eighth-grade science teacher at West Middle School, was recently highlighted in the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Discover Nature Schools newsletter for her work connecting students to hands-on, place-based science learning.

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) proudly announces that Columbia Public School District (MO), has earned the prestigious Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the fiscal year 2025–2026. This national recognition celebrates the district’s commitment to clear, transparent, and high-quality budget presentation, reinforcing its dedication to responsible financial stewardship. 

CPS Elementary Math Coordinator Honored with State Mathematics Award

Jenifer Smith, Elementary Math Coordinator for Columbia Public Schools, has been recognized with the 2025 Outstanding Mathematics Instructional Coach/Coordinator Award from the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). The award was presented on December 6 during the MCTM annual conference held in Columbia.

CACC Graphic Design Student Wins Boone County’s 2026 “I Voted” Sticker Contest

Columbia Area Career Center (CACC) is proud to announce that Graphic Design student Grace Radkowiec has been selected as the winner of Boone County’s official 2026 “I Voted” sticker contest. Her artwork will be featured on thousands of stickers distributed to voters across the county during the 2026 election cycle.
