Asbestos Control Effort

Asbestos Control Effort

The Columbia Schools District continues the long-term task of monitoring all asbestos in district buildings. To comply with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) passed in 1978, the district has spent more than $2 million removing asbestos-containing materials.   Surveillance occurs every six months or less; a complete inspection happens every three years.   A copy of the AHERA Management Plan and inspection reports are available for review at the Facilities & Construction Services office located at 5909 Paris Road, Columbia, Missouri 65202, as well as at each school office. If you would like more information regarding the AHERA program, please contact Facilities & Construction Services at 573.214.3760.
