Bullying Report Information

Missouri law requires schools to report and investigate incidents of alleged bullying following specific procedures. Be assured that safety for all students is and has always been a high priority of the Columbia Public Schools, and that reports of bullying are taken seriously and investigated.

If you have knowledge of a bullying situation that you want to report, please complete the Bullying Report Form (linked below). An investigation will be completed with a variety of individuals to ensure objectivity is achieved.

If you have any questions, please contact the school building principal or Chief Equity Officer Carla London.

Additionally, if you have a general safety concern or wish to report a safety issue you can submit your tip via the school safety tip line (linked below).

What Is Bullying?

Bullying includes behaviors such as intimidation, harassment, or repeated aggressive actions, including cyberbullying. Staff are required to report any instance of bullying to school administration.

What Students Should Do

  • Say: “Stop. I don’t like this. This isn’t right.”
  • Leave the situation immediately
  • Report the behavior to a trusted adult, teacher, counselor, or principal

What Families Can Do

  • Contact the school principal to report concerns
  • Work with school staff to support student safety
  • Submit a report using the district’s bullying reporting process

Investigation Process

School administrators investigate bullying reports by gathering information from multiple sources. The goal is to determine whether bullying occurred and identify appropriate next steps.

Reports are handled internally unless a situation involves a legal violation requiring law enforcement involvement. Families may be contacted during the process as appropriate.
