Google Data Privacy Resources for Parents and Guardians

Columbia Public Schools (CPS) uses Google Workspace for Education. Google Workspace for Education is a set of productivity tools including Docs, Sheets, Classroom, and other learning resources used by students and teachers around the world. At CPS, students use their Google Workspace for Education accounts to complete assignments, communicate with teachers, and develop digital citizenship skills.

This notice describes the personal information CPS provides to Google and how Google collects, uses, and discloses personal information from students using these accounts.

The following are Core Services offered through Google Workspace for Education, as described in the Google Workspace Services Summary:

Classroom, Cloud Search, Drive and Docs, Google Chrome Sync, Google Meet, Google Vault, Groups for Business, Jamboard, Keep, Migrate, Tasks.

Students may also have access to certain Additional Services through their Google Workspace for Education accounts:

Chrome Web Store, Google Alerts, Google Arts and Culture, Google Books, Google Earth, Google Groups, Google Maps, Google MyMaps, Google News, Google Photos, Google Play, Google Translate, YouTube.

CPS may also allow students to access third-party services using their Google Workspace for Education accounts. School administrators enable access to these services and authorize the disclosure of data when required by the third-party provider.
