Work Experience

A Transition Work Experience provides students with disabilities the opportunity to develop workplace skills, explore career interests, and gain valuable real-world experience in a supportive environment. These experiences help students build confidence, increase independence, and prepare for competitive employment after high school.

 

Transition Work Experiences may be paid or unpaid and are designed to meet each student's individual goals and needs. Every experience is aligned with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) Transition Plan (Form C) to ensure meaningful career exploration and skill development that supports their transition to postsecondary education, training, or employment.

 

Students participating in a Transition Work Experience receive support from their school team and the host business to help ensure a successful and rewarding experience.
