    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  On average, an ear of corn has 800 kernels arranged in 16 rows. Corn ears almost always have an even number of rows, even if it  isn't 16.

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  The 2 cheapest properties to buy in the board game Monopoly are Mediterranean Avenue and Baltic Avenue. The Boardwalk and Park Place are the most expensive properties.

     

    Today is Ride the Wind Day.  Have you ever used a parachute?  We will start our Schoology fun next week.  Listen for more info later this week.

     

     

    Welcome back Cyclones!  We hope that you had a great summer! 

     

    A quick reminder: when you hear the music during passing time that is your 1-minute reminder that class is about to start!  We will start counting tardies on Monday, so you’ll want to be in your class before the music ends. 

     

    Be sure to listen to the announcements each morning; we will list lots of information about what is going on at JMS each week.  Clubs will begin meeting within the next couple of weeks and sports will be in full swing as well.  Get involved at JMS, there are so many things that you can do!

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  Wearing headphones for just an hour could increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.  Those of you wearing the airpods all the time may want to take this fun fact into consideration.

     

    Today is Brother's Day.  Today we celebrate special relationships with family.

    The JMS Robotics teams will host a “Make Sale” before school on Wednesday.  From 7 – 7:30 am you can stop by and shop our selection of 3D-printed fidget toys, JMS trinkets, JMS coloring books, and freshly baked cookies and treats.  All items will be $1 to $5 and there is a $5 spending limit.    So bring a little cash for Wednesday morning to support our robotics teams!

     

     

    Great News! Our Cyclone Artists have been hard at work creating and designing our very own Cyclone STEAM coloring book! They look AMAZING! I am so proud of the artists that participated! The Art Studio is selling coloring books for 1$ before and afterschool while supplies last. Grab one while you can! What a great way to relax this summer!

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  The milkshake made it into the mainstream when in 1922 a Walgreens employee in Chicago, Ivar “Pop” Coulson, took an old-fashioned malted milk (milk, chocolate, and malt) and added two scoops of ice cream, creating a drink which became popular at a surprising rate, soon becoming a high-demand drink for young adults around the country.

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  Typically, pesto is made from basil, pine nuts, olive oil, garlic and cheese. There are many variations: avocado pesto has become very popular in recent years..

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  Fifty to seventy-five percent of cats have a reaction to catnip. Catnip is a plant and it is a trait that is believed to be passed down from cats to their kittens.

     

    Today is National Pack Rat Day. Go to the JMS media center Schoology course and tell us who is the biggest pack rat you know.  (This means someone who saves EVERYTHING.) Is there something really weird they save?

See Mr. Gerskin in room 221 if you have any questions.

     

    iPads should be updated to 15.3 when they are returned to the media center.  The update takes about 25 minutes and needs an iPad to be more than 50% charged.  7th graders- you will need to have this update completed by tomorrow.

    Fun Facts from the Media Center:  The 1999 Disney Channel original movie Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, the main character, a teen girl who lives on a space station in the year 2049 was placed by Kirsten Storms. The film was followed by 2 sequels.

     

    Today is Pickle Day. Go to the JMS media center Schoology course and tell us your favorite type of pickle or a food that needs to have pickles added. Mr. Barnes is a big fan of pickles!

    Today is Limerick Day.  Go to the JMS media center Schoology course and write us a limerick.

    A limerick has the first, second and fifth line end in rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme.
