Welcome to Jeanenne Day's page!
My name is Jeanenne Day, and I am a Learning Specialist at Battle High School. I am currently teaching English 9E, Life Skills Reading, and am a co-teacher in Mr. Gross' 9th grade English class. I was honored to be part of the initial teaching staff at Battle, and am so excited about working with our students during the upcoming school year. Battle is a wonderful school, and we are so fortunate to have an amazing administration, faculty and staff, who believe in the success of all students. Our student body is eager, enthusiastic, and delightful, and we are so glad that they are here! Our parents are supportive and equally as eager to assist their son/daughter, as well as the faculty and staff, with meeting their academic success and growth. During the current school year, I will be teaching a Language course, Work Block, and Academic Lab.
My teaching experiences have been varied. My initial teaching experience was an elementary teacher, teaching third, fifth, and sixth grades in Nebraska. After a number of years, I decided to return to my home-state of Missouri, and explored employment options in the business world and law enforcement. Although very meaningful and satisfying, my love for teaching was always in the forefront of my mind. Therefore, I returned to teaching, as a special education teacher, with the Division of Youth Services for quite a few years. Prior to my tenure as a Learning Specialist, with Columbia Public Schools, I worked for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This position was also very fulfilling, and one which I learned so much. However, my heart remained in the classroom.
As a teacher in Columbia, I’ve worked with both junior high and high school students, at West Junior High School, Hickman High School, and Battle High School. What a great experience! Columbia Public Schools is a wonderful school district, with innovative ideas, and one which focuses and encourages the success of all students. I can’t think of a better place to be! It’s great to be back “home”.
I am blessed to still have both of my parents, and each of my four siblings. I am the youngest of five, and enjoy spending time with them, on our family farm. My parents are both retired, so we say. :) But, the family farm, keeps us very busy. I am thankful for their strong work-ethic and all that they have taught me. I can only aspire to pass the same teachings on to our youth.
I enjoy meeting and visiting with our students and their parents, and look forward to a great school year! Thank you for all that you do for your children.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you.
