The Ridgeway philosophy is founded on the ideas that “Success teaches Success- Failure teaches Failure” that a positive self-concept is important for each child. By assessing each child in each subject area and them by placing the child in appropriate instructional groups, regardless of the age or number of year in school, that child should be successful every day. When a child is successful every day this continued success builds a positive self-concept. If a child has a positive self-concept that child will do his/her best work. If a child does his/her best work that child will be successful. Thus the system builds on itself.
