Welcome to Vernetta Cowans's page!

I am Ms. Vernetta Cowans.
I am a Kindergarten teacher at Benton STEM Elementary. This is my 16th here. I have worked as a paraprofessional, an instructional aide, and an office aide.
This is my 7th year in Kindergarten. I have the opportunity of teaching foundational skills in literacy which include the alphabet, concept of print, phonological awareness, phonics, high-frequency words (sight words), and fluency. My favorite part of teaching is building relationships with my children and watching them grow as learners. Teaching Kindergarten is my jam!
I feel very blessed to work with such amazing students and staff!
