Bienvenidos a la clase de Español!
¡Hola! My name is Amy Jammeh (but most people call me Señora J), and I've been a Spanish teacher at Battle High School since the fall of 2018. I am also the World Langauge Department Chair, advisor for the BHS Spanish Club, and a Link Crew coordinator. I'm proud to be a Spartan!
Before coming to BHS, I taught English to international students for 11 years at the University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg, MO) and at the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO). From 2014-2015, I taught at local university in Vinh, Vietnam. My passion is teaching, but when I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy traveling. I've been to over 20 different countries in Central and Latin America, Africa, and Europe. In college, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to study and live abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico and Valparíso, Chile. I hope that I'll be able to travel to more places in the future. I also have two cats, Remmington and Eloise, and one dog, Emmy. I enjoy spending time with them, watching TV, and volunteering in Columbia.
In my classes, students will have a variety of ways to practice the language. I will try to provide many diverse opportunities for students to speak, read, write and listen to Spanish. Also, since language and culture can not be separated, I create activities for students to be able to learn about the rich cultures of many Spanish-speaking countries.
I'm looking forward to a great 2021-2022 school year!
Vivan los espartanos (Long live Spartans!),
Señora J
