• Hello and Welcome!

My name is Margaret Frey, and I teach Reading Workshop here at West. 2020-2021 is my fifteenth year of teaching, and I have taught in a lot of different places:  New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Missouri. I grew up in New York, and I also lived in Vermont and Oregon while I was being a stay-at-home mom to my kids. We moved a lot, but I am so happy to have landed here at West, because in case you hadn't heard:  WEST IS BEST!

In addition to teaching my classes, I sponsor the Project Lit book club.  We'll start out virtually at first, and then hopefully move to in-person meetings.  I have amazing books for you to choose from and I hope you will join us!  For the first time this year, I would love to have parents and caregivers participate.  What a great opportunity for caregivers and students to share timely and relevant stories, and to engage in conversations about the world around us.  Students will hear me say this a lot this year:  Literacy is a family affair!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via email at Mfrey@cpsk12.org.  I can't wait to meet new students and to see my old friends again.  I have missed you!  This is going to be an adventure, and while I am pretty sure there will be a few bumps in the road while we all learn, we are in this together and we will make it great!  We are living history, folks, and I can't think of better people to do it with; I feel lucky every day!
