Welcome to Andrew Laws's page!

    Gentry Jaguars

Me: My Name is Andy Laws, I teach 6th and 8th Grade Social Studies here at Gentry Middle school.  This is my second year teaching in Columbia Public Schools, although I have been working for CPS since August of 2015.  I have worked as a paraprofessional, a substitute teacher, an instructional aide, and a long term substitute.  I graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri in 2015.  I am also an assistant football coach, 7th grade boys basketball coach, and coach the sprinters in track at GMS.  Before pursuing education I was in the army.  I served in the 1st Battalion of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.  I have one overseas tour in the Western Anbar Province in Iraq - with most of our time spent between Ramadi and Al-Taqaddum.

Outside of School: I love cheering for my alma mater, M-I-Z!  Supporting my Kansas City area teams, the 2020 Super Bowl Champion Chiefs and the 2015 World Series Champion Royals, and I also love going to movies.  I enjoy running and swimming outside so I am sorry to see summer end!  Please don't hesitate to contact me!  Go Jaguars!
