Welcome to Heather Jones's page!
Hello! My name is Heather Jones and I am a sixth and seventh grade science teacher at Smithton Middle School. This year in science the topics we will be learning in sixth grade are physics, life science, and ecosystems and in seventh grade science we will be learning about climate, human impact, matter, and waves. I understand that this year is a little overwhelming - transition to middle school AND we are still experiencing the impact of a global pandemic! Our number one priority is that you have fun, feel safe, and continue to learn, no matter what format we are in. I am here to support in any way possible, so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions!
This is my third year teaching at Smithton, but my ninth year of teacher total. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Missouri (Go Tigers!). I earned my Master of Teaching degree from Missouri Baptist University. I have attended many place-based education professional development and am a firm believer in students understanding their community and identifying problems that they can practice their collaborative skills and problem-solving skills.
Outside of teaching I enjoy hiking, camping, and fly fishing with my family. My family consists of my husband Adam and our three adorable kids Jackson (9), Wade (7), and Haddie (5).
Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship. If at any time you have any questions or concerns please contact me. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (573) 214-3260.
I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your student! I look forward to watching them learn, grow, and have a fantastic time in sixth grade!
