    A huge thank you to all our Cyclone families who came out to celebrate our love of reading at our Barnes and Noble Fall into Reading on 11/7/18.  We are also running a 5-day online book fair with Barnes and Noble from November 8-12.  To have your purchase benefit our reading department, use the online ordering instructions and enter our book fair ID number 12432514.  This number is correct, earlier info had incorrect info.

    Welcome to the 2018-19 school year.  I am Dr. Greg Caine, and I would like to welcome you to Jefferson Middle School.

    We are excited to see the faces of new students as well as those returning to JMS this school year.  Our  outstanding staff is anxious to begin our learning journey with your students.  We look forward to a great school year and working with you as the year progresses. 

Jefferson Middle School

  • Jefferson Middle School first opened as Columbia's high school in 1911. The "new high school," built in 1911, was converted to Jefferson Junior High School in 1927 when David H. Hickman High School opened. In 2013 Jefferson Junior High School became Jefferson Middle School, becoming one of Columbia's six outstanding middle schools.
    The mascot is the Cyclone.
    School Vision: Jefferson Middle School will provide a challenging, caring, and stimulating environment where children will achieve their fullest potential.

    School Mission:  Jefferson Middle School students will be academically, technologically, and socially prepared for high school.
