  • Battle High School senior receives full four-year scholarship

    Battle High School Senior Trenton Marks has been awarded the prestigious QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. He will receive a full four-year scholarship to Davidson College in North Carolina. This scholarship, worth more than $250,000, recognizes students who are outstanding academic leaders. Trenton is one of 1,044 students selected from more than 16,000 applicants nationwide to receive the scholarship.

  • Ethics Bowl team takes first place

    Hickman High School’s Ethics Bowl team took first place at the Missouri Regional Ethics Bowl hosted by Columbia College.

  • Attendance area changes approved

    The Columbia Board of Education voted on new attendance areas for middle and high schools at its February 11 meeting. In 2020, Columbia Public Schools will open its seventh middle school. In order to incorporate the new middle school into the school district and address continued growth in Columbia, secondary (grades 6-12) attendance areas required adjustments. The Board of Education also approved a transfer policy that includes some grandfathering for current students.

  • Career Center director named

    Brandon Russell has been named director of the Columbia Area Career Center. Russell has been the interim director since May. He filled the position after former director Randy Gooch was selected as Columbia Public Schools' chief operating officer.

  • CPS assistant superintendent for secondary education announced

    Jennifer Rukstad has been selected as the new assistant superintendent for secondary education for Columbia Public Schools. She is slated to begin her role on July 1, 2019.
