Welcome to the 2019-20 school year.  I am Dr. Greg Caine, Sr. and I would like to welcome you to Jefferson Middle School.

We are so excited to begin another school year.  Our  outstanding staff is anxious to begin our learning journey with your students.  We have new and exciting learning opportunities in the area of STEAM education that we will be integrating this school year. It is exciting to be making this transition toward becoming a STEAM school. Through these hands on learning opportunities that integrate critical thinking, project planning and development, and creativity, we are pushing our students even further then before. We look forward to a great school year with our Cyclone family.

Jefferson Middle School

  • Jefferson Middle School first opened as Columbia's high school in 1911. The "new high school," built in 1911, was converted to Jefferson Junior High School in 1927 when David H. Hickman High School opened. In 2013 Jefferson Junior High School became Jefferson Middle School, becoming one of Columbia's six outstanding middle schools.
    The mascot is the Cyclone.
School Vision: Jefferson Middle School will provide a challenging, caring, and stimulating environment where children will achieve their fullest potential.

School Mission:  Jefferson Middle School students will be academically, technologically, and socially prepared for high school.
