CPS FFA students soar in two competitions

Local Columbia Public Schools’ Columbia Area Career Center students participated and competed in the Missouri FFA Area IV Leadership Development Event on March 17.

Samuel Tummons, a sophomore at Hickman High School, placed 1st in Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Samuel moved on to the Northeast District FFA Competition on Monday, March 22 and placed 1st place in Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Samuel will advance to the FFA state competition on April 17th.

Abigail Eddy, a freshman at Hickman High School, placed 2nd in Creed Speaking. Abigail moved on to the district competition on Monday, March 22.

Ethan Cooper from Battle High School, Abigail Eddy from Hickman High School, Quentin Hall from Hickman High School and Madyson Wilson from Battle High School are all freshman students who competed in the FFA Knowledge test and placed 4th. All these students moved on to the virtual district competition on Tuesday, March 23.

Gentry Duncan, a sophomore at Rockbridge High School, placed 1st with his Completed Placement Record Book. Gentry’s record book will move on to the state level on April 30th.

Abigail Eddy, a freshman at Hickman High School, placed 2nd with her Incomplete Record Book.
