CPS celebrates Rock Bridge Elementary School classroom addition and renovation completion

Columbia Public Schools celebrated the completion of the Rock Bridge Elementary School classroom addition and renovation project with a ribbon cutting. The $6.2 million construction project began in 2020 and was completed in time for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The project was paid for with funds from the 2018 voter-approved bond issue.

Square footage added: 16,588 sq. feet
Square feet total: 66,655 sq. feet

Number of classrooms added:
7 traditional classrooms, 2 renovated classrooms

Unique features added:
1 music classroom, 1 multipurpose - P.E./music room, 1 multipurpose art/cafe 

Other building highlights of note:
Space added for support services in speech, psychology, counseling, English Learners and more

Universal design and ADA improvements:
Site access, passenger unloading/loading zones, ADA parking, accessible play area and outdoor classroom pathway

Kitchen and restroom renovation

Energy and efficiencies:
Renovation of ground-source heating and cooling
Stormwater improvements to protect Rock Bridge State Park
Native tree and shrub species landscaping
High-efficiency HVAC installation
