John Warner Middle School wins design recognition
The American School & University Educational Interiors Showcase has recognized John Warner Middle School as an Outstanding Design for its media center.
The recognition honors educational interior excellence. A panel selected JWMS from more than 80 projects nationwide.
ACI Boland Architects with associated firm PWArchitects worked with Columbia Public Schools to create the design. As the first Columbia middle school designed to foster collaboration, John Warner Middle School provides spaces with varied scales: small-scale corridor collaboration for peer-to-peer work, larger collaboration spaces that are team-based in size, and a media center that has been reimagined as a center of innovation and collaboration for the entire building. The media center provides a central point in the school and provides a vertical welcoming space. The center also includes a STEM lab as part of the mission to be a central collaborative space for the school.
