Battle High School Principal Announced

Dr. Alyssa (Aly) Galbreath has been selected as the next principal at Battle High School.

Galbreath is currently an assistant principal at Battle High School. Galbreath will take over the role from current Principal Adam Taylor.  Taylor was selected to be the district’s executive director of secondary education earlier this school year.

Galbreath is a Columbia native and a product of Columbia Public Schools, attending Parkade Elementary School, LangeMiddle School and Oakland Junior High School, and a graduate of Hickman High School.

After graduating from CPS, she attended Westminster College earning bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and secondary teaching. She was a University of Missouri teaching fellow and began her teaching career at West Junior High in 2011, before transitioning to Hickman High School. While teaching math at Hickman, Galbreath returned to school to complete her specialist and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from William Woods University. Galbreath served as the administrative assistant, and then assistant principal at Gentry Middle School before moving to Battle High School as an assistant principal in 2020.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Galbreath step into the principal role at Battle High School. Her continued leadership will create continuity and continue the school’s mission to empower and equip the leaders of tomorrow in the disciplines of academic excellence and social responsibility. She is a great part of the Spartan school community and will do an outstanding job,” Superintendent Brian Yearwood said.
