Board of Education action: Return to virtual learning

On November 9, the Columbia Board of Education approved the following actions regarding the district's in-person learning mode:

PreK – Elementary
Students will return to virtual instruction on November 16, 2020.  Families may choose not to attend in-person on November 10 and 12. Those who do not attend will not be penalized but will be responsible for any missed work.  Students will return to in-person learning 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) beginning January 11, 2021. Students enrolled in CPSElementary@Mizzou can continue in the program and are not impacted by this change.

Middle School
Students will remain virtual for the remainder of the first semester.  Students will return to in-person learning 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) beginning January 19, 2021. Students enrolled in CPS Virtual learning can continue in the program and are not impacted by this change.

High School
Students will remain virtual for the remainder of the first semester. Students will return to in-person learning 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) beginning January 19, 2021. Students enrolled in CPS Virtual learning can continue in the program and are not impacted by this change.

Special Programs
The Special Services Department will review all special education programs and evaluate which programs will be eligible to continue to receive in-person learning. The English Learner Department will review all of its English Learner programs and evaluate which programs will be eligible to receive in-person learning. Career Education will review all of its courses and programs and evaluate which will be eligible to continue to receive in-person learning.
