Jefferson science teacher named finalist for presidential award
Jefferson Middle School science teacher Jennifer Szydlowski has been named a Missouri state-level finalist by the selection committee for this year's Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Program recognizing 7-12 grade teachers of science in Missouri. Ms. Szydlowski is one of four science teachers selected as a state-level finalist.
Ms. Szydlowski will be considered for national recognition by a committee reporting to the National Science Foundation. She will also be recognized for her accomplishment as state-level finalist during a state teaching conference in February. The teacher selected as the state Presidential Awardee will be notified officially by the White House and will receive $10,000 and an all-expense-paid trip for two to Washington, DC, where Presidential Awardees will be honored in a variety of recognition events.
