Columbia Water and Light, school district partnership earn recognition
Columbia Water and Light won the 2016 Inspiring Efficiency Education award from the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance for developing and implementing an educational marketing campaign on energy efficiency. Columbia Water and Light's educational marketing program, "Columbia Youth Teaching Efficiency," teaches middle-schoolers about energy efficiency and incorporates student ideas and creativity to enhance its messaging. The goal of the new marketing campaign was to communicate energy efficiency messages to customers in a fun way that showcases student creativity and also teaches students about how to incorporate energy efficiency into their own lives. Columbia Water and Light has reached more than 4,200 students in Columbia Public Schools through its marketing contest and other educational programs.
