Attention CPS high school students! Want to play a role in city government? Want to encourage city leaders to listen to issues impacting youth in the community? Consider applying for a position on the City of Columbia's new Youth Advisory Council. Applications are due Friday, February 6.
Columbia Public Schools students ages 14 to 19 are invited to apply for open vacancies on the advisory council. The Youth Advisory Council will advise the City Council on all matters pertaining to youth-related issues. The advisory council will have monthly meetings throughout the school year. The meeting schedule has not yet been determined.
There are 15 to 21 vacancies with terms to expire on February 15, 2016; February 15, 2017; and February 15, 2018.
Consideration will be given to appointing a diverse group of members to include the various city wards, public and private high schools, and other elements of diversity whenever possible.
