Superintendent earns national recognition as a teacher leader

Columbia Public Schools superintendent Peter Stiepleman is being awarded the 2015 National Reading Recovery Teacher Leader Award. This award, presented by the Reading Recovery Council of North America, is bestowed annually to exceptional advocates of Reading Recovery. Award recipients must show an exemplary commitment to the high standards of Reading Recovery and the expansion of Reading Recovery, and make significant contributions to Reading Recovery beyond the local level. Previous winners of this highly prestigious award have included school superintendents, state education commissioners, philanthropists, state legislators, and the United States Senator for Maine, Susan Collins. Dr. Stiepleman will receive his award at the end of June at the National Reading Recovery Teacher Leader Institute in Kansas City.
