The Multicultural Achievement Committee (MAC) will host the 5th annual MAC Achievement Conference on Saturday, October 24 at Columbia College. The conference is free and open to youth and adults in and around Columbia.
This year's conference theme is Opportunity Up. Dr. S. David Mitchell, a University of Missouri law professor, will provide the keynore address. His message will focus on education in the 21st century and the importance of creating inclusive communities. Conference workshops will inform, engage, educate and inspire us as a community of learners. Ideas will be shared for motivating students to succeed in and out of the classroom. Attendees will also identify strategies to eliminate barriers to success.
The MAC Achievement Conference is one of the only student-led conferences in the country. The student planning team represents members from all four Columbia public high schools and the Youth Advisory Council of Columbia. The conference helps to continue the mission to create an inclusive community of learners, where every child has an opportunity to receive an excellent education.
