Rock Bridge teacher honored with Floating Classroom Award (Posted 01/29/16)
Kory Kaufman, biology and physics teacher at Rock Bridge High School, was recently awarded the "Floating Classroom Award" from Missouri River Relief (MRR). This annual award honors an educator who branches out of the classroom and actively works to create lasting educational experiences on the Missouri River for students. MRR is a non-profit organization based in Columbia, Missouri, that is dedicated to connecting people to the Missouri River through hands-on river cleanups, education, and recreational opportunities.
In the short time Kaufman has been with MRR, he has guided the organization in furthering its educational efforts, served as a board member, chaired the Education Committee, and volunteered during programs. As chair of the Education Committee, Kaufman has provided invaluable guidance and support in the revitalization of the committee. He has assisted in the establishment of three core competencies for students to acquire when engaging with Missouri River Relief's educational programs, and has grown MRR's program components with his feedback and expertise from the classroom.
