Battle High School will host an independent TEDx event to discuss what it means to "Transcend the Block." The community, including parents, students, and school district employees, are invited to participate. The event will be held on Friday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Battle High School. The event will also be streamed live.
Students will be encouraged to talk about life beyond the block where they live as well as their futures after high school. The event, which will include short talks on relevant topics, provides an opportunity for students to share their ideas and thoughts about the world.
"TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world," said Melita Walker, event organizer and assistant principal at Battle High School. "The TED community believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and, ultimately, the world. Our ultimate goal is to present ideas to our students that will inspire them to 'transcend their block.'"
