Hickman teacher receives Presidential Award for Excellence (Posted 08/30/16)

Deanna Wasman Hickman High School mathematics teacher Deanna Wasman has been named a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The White House announced more than 200 winners nationwide from the 2014 and 2015 nominating years. Wasman was recognized at a national awards ceremony in Washington, DC, on September 8.
 
Wasman has taught mathematics at Hickman High School for 17 years. She currently teaches college algebra and advanced placement calculus to students in grades 9-12. She was previously the recipient of the 2009 Outstanding High School Educator Award of the Columbia Fund for Academic Excellence. She has also received the Teacher Recognition Award of the United States Presidential Scholars Program, the Yale University Educator Award, and the Stanford University Teaching Award.
