New exhibits and displays at CPS Planetarium (posted 5/1/17)
In May, visitors to CPS Planetarium will be able to make a telescope, see a 3-D Big Dipper, explore the interior of the sun, see a model of Jupiter, and much more.
In addition to the two free planetarium shows CPS Planetarium offers the public each second Saturday, May 13 marks the debut of several new astronomy exhibits and displays that visitors can enjoy before and/or after the 2:00 and 3:15 planetarium shows. Most of these hands-on, interactive exhibits were obtained from Lake Afton Public Observatory when it closed its doors a year and a half ago in Wichita, Kansas. With donations from Columbia's Broadway Christian Church's 2016 vacation bible school, all the exhibits have been updated and adapted for display here by CPS Planetarium staff.
So come for the shows, stay to explore the exhibits. Exhibits will be on display from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
