STEM Expo at the CPS Planetarium (posted 11/1/17)

Come celebrate STEM--Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math--as the Columbia Public Schools Planetarium hosts the third annual STEM Expo on Saturday, November 11. Doors and exhibits will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In the hallways of Rock Bridge High School, visitors will learn about volcanoes, earthquakes, fractals, computers, 3-D printers, rockets, dinosaurs, how much they weigh on other planets, and much more. Hands-on displays will be provided by CPS Planetarium, Hickman High School's Math Honor Society, Great Rivers Council Boy Scouts, Central Missouri Astronomical Association, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - Mizzou Branch, and the University of Missouri Departments of Geological Sciences, Integrative Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Engineering.

In the planetarium, visitors can see one of two offerings--Forces of Nature, which focuses on the geology of the planet we live on; or Our Living Climate, which explains what a climate is and how Earth's has ended up so different from those of other planets.

This event is free, but donations of $2.00 per person are welcome. To reserve a seat for one planetarium show, visit
